Edit one sentence at a time, and NerdPress procedures arrive

What’s new with the Guided Agent Connector · September 17, 2026

This was a big week for the NerdPress Guided Agent Connector. The short version: your agent can now make small, precise edits instead of rewriting whole posts, and for some of the bigger jobs publishers ask us about, it can follow the same step-by-step plan our team would.

Here’s what that means for you, plus a few prompts to try.

Change one sentence without touching the rest

Until this week, fixing a typo in paragraph twelve meant your agent had to send back the entire post (every paragraph, every block, every recipe card) just to change one word. That worked, but it was slow, used more of your AI plan, and gave your agent more chances to “helpfully” tidy up something you never asked it to touch.

Now your agent can change just the part you mean: a sentence, a heading, a link, or a single block. Everything else in the post stays exactly as it was.

Fix one sentence

Quick

Change

In my post “[post title],” change the sentence that starts “[first few words]” so it says “[new wording].” Don’t change anything else, and keep the post’s “last updated” date the same.

Make the same fix across many posts

The same trick works across your whole site. Renamed your newsletter? Moved your shop to a new address? Have an old link that shows up in fifty posts? Your agent can find every place it appears and change just that piece in each one.

Update an old link everywhere

Quick

Start with · Check

Find every post that links to [old web address]. List each post along with the sentence the link is in. Don’t change anything yet.

Then · Change

Update those links to [new web address]. Keep each post’s “last updated” date the same, and when you’re done, show me the list of posts you changed.

Pro tip: Ask for the list first, every time. It’s the easiest way to catch the one post where the link shouldn’t change.

NerdPress procedures: our playbook for the bigger jobs

Some jobs are too important to improvise. So we’ve started writing procedures: the step-by-step plans our team follows for jobs that come up again and again. When your agent takes on one of these jobs, it pulls up the matching procedure and works through it in order, including the points where it has to stop and check with you before going any further.

To go with them, the Connector picked up new tools to help make the procedures possible. More procedures will be added weekly!

Follow a NerdPress procedure

Quick

Check

Is there a NerdPress procedure for fixing image alt text? If there is, follow it for my ten most recent posts, and show me what you’d change before you change anything.

With our Connector: You don’t need to know a procedure’s name. Describe the job in your own words, and your agent will find the matching procedure if there is one. If there isn’t, it’ll tell you so.

Bring back comments on older posts

Did comments quietly disappear from your older posts? WordPress has a setting that closes comments automatically after a certain number of days, and it’s easy to forget it’s turned on. Your agent can now check that setting, change it, and open or close comments on individual posts.

Bring comments back

Quick

Start with · Check

Comments seem to be missing on some of my older posts. Check whether WordPress is closing comments automatically, and tell me what the setting is now. Don’t change anything yet.

Then · Change

Turn off automatic closing. Then check “[post title]” and reopen comments there if they’re still closed.

Also this week

  • More sites can connect. Staging sites protected by a username and password can now connect.
  • Fewer unnecessary cache clears. The Connector now tells your agent when your site’s page cache clears itself after an edit, so it doesn’t stop to clear it again.
  • Real links to our guidance. When your agent quotes NerdPress guidance, it now gets the article’s real address instead of guessing one. (A few agents had been making up links that went nowhere. Sorry about that!)

The week in numbers

The week of September 17 in numbers: 574 changes made through the Connector, 190 one-passage edits, 7 new NerdPress procedures, and 171 guidance checks.
  • 574 changes made through the Connector this week.
  • 190 of those were one-passage edits. That feature didn’t exist on Monday morning.
  • 171 times an agent checked NerdPress guidance before getting to work.
  • 4 different AI apps did the work: Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Tasklet.
