Our Core Values

Over the past few years, NerdPress has grown from a fledgling “one-man shop” to a thriving team of thirteen women and men, supporting hundreds of publishers and small businesses.

To continue providing consistently great service to our clients as we grow, we’ve developed a set of core values to help guide everything we do. Everyone on our team can rely on these guiding principles to empower them to make decisions and guide their actions.

This will always be a work-in-progress; as we learn and develop, we’ll fine-tune and adjust. We’re very excited to share them with you, and look forward to your feedback!

Provide Heroic Support.

Supporting our clients is at the heart of everything we do. We identify our clients’ needs and then see it through — by resolving an issue outright, or, when that’s not practical, offering guidance and a path to resolution. We communicate clearly and consistently, and do what we say we’re going to do. We are thorough. We seek out opportunities to exceed expectations.

Be Proactive.

The only thing better than solving problems is preventing problems in the first place! So we’re forward-thinking, always working diligently to stay ahead of the game, and taking proactive action whenever possible.

Take Good Care.

We believe in being a partner with our clients, and we treat their sites with the same care that we do our own. We use good judgment, pay attention to detail, and take responsibility. We practice empathy and kindness. We have a good sense of humor — and like to have fun!

We also take good care of ourselves and each other. If we aren’t at the top of our game physically, emotionally, and mentally, we won’t be performing at our best.

This also means supporting our communities and giving back. We believe that open-mindedness, inclusion, and diversity are absolutely critical; having a wide range of viewpoints, experiences, and perspectives contributes to our strength, ability, and success.

Teach and Empower.

Providing heroic support is more than just completing the immediate task at hand. Every interaction is an opportunity to learn and grow, and to be able to apply that experience the next time around. We explain what we did and how we did it (in accessible, non-techy language), helping our clients gain a greater understanding of their sites. We also take the time to teach and empower each other, so we keep getting better — individually, and as a team.

Keep Improving.

We recognize that we’re not always going to get things right, and for those times when we don’t, it’s an opportunity to improve. So we’re not afraid to practice honesty and transparency, and to ask for help when we need it.

We’re fueled by curiosity. Indeed, one of the reasons we love what we do is that we’re always learning. As technology and the internet evolve, we will too. We thrive on this continual growth, and are always seeking to get better.
